A single-effect evaporator is a fundamental and widely utilized system for solvent recovery and product concentration. It operates under a controlled vacuum, which significantly lowers the boiling point of the solvent. This design allows the solvent-product mixture to be heated gently and cyclically. During this cycle, the low-boiling-point solvent vaporizes, is subsequently cooled and liquefied in the condenser, and is efficiently separated and collected.

 

 

It is composed with evaporation heater, evaporation chamber, separator, condenser, cooler, solvent collection tank, vacuum system, water cooling system, pipes system, etc.

With different solvent and application area, we can design several single effective evaporators to work in series, so as to save energy.

 

 

The operation begins when steam is introduced into the shell side of the tubular evaporation heater. Simultaneously, the solvent-product mixture is circulated through the tube side, where it absorbs heat. This heating causes the solvent to partially vaporize. The heated mixture is then discharged into the evaporation chamber, where a sudden pressure drop induces rapid flashing, separating the mixture into vapor and liquid phases.

The gaseous solvent, now freed from the bulk liquid, rises to the top of the evaporation chamber and enters the gas-liquid separator. Here, any remaining liquid entrainment is removed, ensuring only vapor proceeds onward. This purified vapor then flows into the condenser, where it is liquefied using cooling water. The liquid solvent passes through a final cooler before being collected in the solvent collection tank, ready for reuse or disposal. The concentrated liquid product, which has a higher boiling point, drains from the bottom of the chamber and is typically recirculated for further concentration. This continuous process ensures complete separation. Crucially, the entire cycle occurs under vacuum, well below the product's normal boiling point, thereby preserving heat-sensitive components and preventing thermal degradation.
